This St.Brigid’s Day, we honour the deep connections between women, land, and restoration. Just as rushes and mosses鈥攐nce essential tools in the hands of women鈥攕ustained life, women today are leading the way in restoring our wetlands and ecosystems.

St. Brigid  is deeply connected to the land, water, and the cycles of renewal. Her association with rushes鈥攚oven into the iconic St. Brigid鈥檚 Cross鈥攔eflects the ancient relationship between women and nature – especially the wetlands, where rushes and mosses were vital resources for daily life. Just as Brigid was a guardian of  healing, and abundance, wetlands are nature鈥檚 own healers, storing carbon, purifying water, and nurturing biodiversity. This St. Brigid鈥檚 Day, we honour her legacy by restoring and protecting these precious ecosystems, ensuring they continue to sustain life for generations to come.
